Terms of Use
The terms for using DeftMove by EverKnight, including its public content, newsletter, accounts, and premium access.
Last updated:
These terms apply when you visit or use deftmove.com (the “site”). DeftMove by EverKnight is operated by EverKnight Limited, referred to below as “DeftMove”, “we”, “us” or “our”.
By using the site, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
About DeftMove
DeftMove is a practical space where developers and other technology professionals can build skills, ship products and create their own opportunities. It publishes content about software engineering, artificial intelligence, startups, product building, career development and related subjects. Content may include articles, code snippets, diagrams, media, links and other learning resources.
The current site provides public content, a contact form, an optional double-opt-in newsletter, email-verified account signup, and manually granted premium access. Creating an account or choosing a membership plan does not grant premium access or start a subscription. The site does not currently offer online checkout, recurring billing, or a user-generated community.
The site is provided for general information, education and discussion. Using it does not create a professional, advisory, employment, partnership, agency or client relationship between you and EverKnight Limited.
No promise of income or results
“Build skills. Ship products. Create your own upside.” describes DeftMove’s purpose, not a guarantee of results.
Learning from the site, following an example, building a project or receiving premium access does not guarantee income, employment, promotion, investment, customers, funding, a successful product or startup, or any other financial or professional outcome. Results depend on many factors outside our control, including your own decisions, work, experience and circumstances.
Nothing on the site is legal, financial, investment, tax, medical or other regulated professional advice. Obtain appropriate professional advice and independently verify information before making an important decision.
Informational content
We try to make content clear and accurate, but technology, business practices and other subjects change quickly. We do not promise that every item is complete, error-free, suitable for your circumstances or kept permanently up to date.
You remain responsible for how you interpret and use the content and for checking current documentation, laws, licences and requirements relevant to your situation.
Code examples
Code, commands, configurations and architectural examples are illustrative and may omit production concerns. Before using them, you are responsible for:
- reviewing and testing the code in a safe environment;
- checking security, privacy, performance and accessibility requirements;
- confirming compatibility with your software, licences and dependencies;
- protecting credentials, personal data and production systems; and
- deciding whether the example is suitable for your use case.
Never run a command you do not understand or place real secrets in example code. Unless a specific licence says otherwise, publication of a code example does not grant rights beyond those available under applicable law.
Accounts
You can register an unpaid account by providing your email, choosing a monthly or annual plan preference, verifying your email and setting a password. An authorised DeftMove operator can also provision an account and separately grant premium access. A newsletter subscription does not create an account, and account registration or an invitation does not enrol you in the newsletter.
When setting up an account, you must use an email address you are entitled to use, follow the one-time email link, and choose a password that meets the stated requirements. You are responsible for:
- providing accurate account information;
- keeping your password and account access confidential;
- not sharing, selling or transferring your account;
- using only your own account; and
- contacting us promptly if you suspect unauthorised access.
You may use the password-recovery process to regain access. We may require reasonable verification before making an account change through support. Account access may be refused or suspended where reasonably necessary to protect the site, enforce these terms, respond to suspected misuse, or comply with law.
Premium access
A premium entitlement controls access to designated protected content. It may start or expire at a specified time, continue without an automatic expiry, or be revoked. The current entitlement is checked whenever protected content is requested, and an account may remain active even when its premium entitlement is inactive or expired.
Premium access is currently granted manually. The site does not currently collect payment, operate an automated subscription, or provide checkout, renewal or cancellation functionality. A premium label or entitlement shown in an account describes technical access and is not by itself evidence of a purchase or payment.
If DeftMove later offers paid products or recurring subscriptions, the price, billing period, cancellation rights and any additional purchase terms will be presented before a user agrees to pay. These terms do not create a charge for functionality that is currently provided without an online payment flow.
We may change which content or features are designated as premium. We do not promise that a particular article, resource or feature will remain available indefinitely. Any mandatory rights arising from a separate agreement or applicable consumer law remain unaffected.
Newsletter
Newsletter updates are optional and separate from account access. Submitting the newsletter form records a pending request. You must use the one-time email link and explicitly confirm within 24 hours before the subscription becomes active. This does not guarantee a particular sending schedule or that the newsletter will always be available. The site does not yet send newsletter issues.
After confirmation, a browser that still recognises the subscription can unsubscribe through the newsletter panel’s explicit confirmation step. You may also withdraw a pending request or unsubscribe from later updates as described in the Privacy Notice. Ending newsletter consent does not delete an account or premium entitlement, and losing account access does not automatically unsubscribe you.
Messages and suggestions
When you use a form or email DeftMove, you are responsible for the information you send and must have the right to share it. Do not send passwords, confidential material, sensitive personal data, unlawful content or content that infringes another person’s rights.
Sending a message does not guarantee a reply or create a confidential or professional relationship. Personal data in messages, newsletter requests and accounts is handled as described in the Privacy Notice.
Copyright and permitted use
Unless stated otherwise, the site’s original articles, images, design and other content are owned by or licensed to EverKnight Limited and are protected by copyright and other intellectual-property laws. All rights are reserved.
You may link to pages and quote short extracts with clear attribution where permitted by law. You may not republish a complete article, reproduce a substantial part of the site, remove attribution, defeat access controls, share premium-only material outside its intended access, or use DeftMove content commercially without prior permission.
Some pages contain third-party names, trademarks, quotations, images, libraries or other materials. Those materials remain the property of their respective owners and may be subject to separate terms or licences. References to a third party do not imply sponsorship or endorsement.
To request permission or report a possible rights issue, email info@deftmove.com.
Acceptable use
You must not use the site to:
- break the law or infringe another person’s rights;
- disrupt, overload, damage or interfere with the site or its providers;
- bypass rate limits, Turnstile, authentication, premium entitlements or other access and security controls;
- probe for vulnerabilities or attempt unauthorised access;
- submit malicious code, spam, deceptive requests or automated abuse;
- scrape or reproduce substantial parts of the site in a way that violates these terms or applicable law; or
- use account or premium content to mislead others about its source or your relationship with DeftMove.
Reasonable use of ordinary browsers, search engines, feed readers and links to public pages is welcome. Access may be restricted where reasonably necessary to protect the site or others.
External links and services
The site may link to content, products or services operated by third parties. We do not control those services and a link does not necessarily mean we endorse them. Your use of a third-party service is governed by that provider’s terms and privacy notice.
You are responsible for checking the destination, terms, licences and security of third-party content before relying on it or downloading anything.
Availability and changes
We may correct, update, reorganise or remove content and features, and may suspend or stop all or part of the site. We do not promise uninterrupted availability, permanent access to any item, or advance notice of every change.
Where reasonably possible, we will avoid changes that conflict with a specific separate agreement. Nothing in this section removes mandatory rights you may have under applicable consumer law.
Disclaimers and responsibility
The site and its content are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. To the extent permitted by law, we make no warranties about availability, accuracy, reliability, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement.
You use the site and rely on its content at your own risk. To the extent permitted by law, EverKnight Limited is not responsible for indirect, incidental or consequential loss arising from use of the site, inability to use it, reliance on its content, use of third-party links and examples, or results you expected but did not achieve.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, or affects mandatory rights you may have under applicable consumer law.
Privacy
The Privacy Notice explains what personal data is processed when you browse the site, use its forms, request newsletter updates, or create or use an account. It forms a separate notice and is not replaced by these terms.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms to reflect changes to the site or applicable requirements. The latest version will be posted here and the date at the top will be updated. Revised terms apply from their stated update date. Where a change materially affects an existing account or a separate agreement, we will provide any notice required by applicable law.
